
How to Add your Location to a Tweet

If you want to reveal your geographic location in your Tweets, you can enable the location feature from Twitter settings. This will let other people know where you are tweeting from. This article shows you how to add a location to a Tweet on both Desktop and mobile app.
How to Tweet with your location on the web
By default, the location feature is disabled.
To add a location to your Tweets:
Step 1: Open Twitter and log into your account.
Step 2: Click the compose box at the top of the page.
Step 3: Click the location button.
Step 4: Click Turn On.
Step 5: Your current location will be displayed.
Step 6: Click the location button again. A drop-down menu with other options will appear.
You can select any location listed and it will show up in the bottom-left corner of your compose box.
You can also search for a location by typing in the search box at the top of the location menu.
Step 7: Enter your Tweet and click Tweet.
Next time when you compose a Tweet, your location information will automatically appear in your Tweet.
How to tweet with your location on Twitter for iOS or Android
To add a location to your Tweets.
Step 1: Open the app.
Step 2: Tap the Write Tweet icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Tap the location icon.
Step 4: You will see a pop-up asking whether you want to let Twitter use your GPS location. Tap OK.
Step 5: If you haven't enabled location service on your device, you will need to turn them on in your device settings. Tap Settings.
Step 5: Tap the button next to Location Service to turn it on.
Step 6: Now go back to Twitter. Tap on the location icon again and tap Allow.
Step 7: You can select any location listed to add to your Tweet or you can search for a location by typing in the Search locations box.
If you choose to toggle on the Share precise location button, your precise location (latitude and longitude) will be associated with the Tweet and findable via API.
Step 8: Tap Done.
Step 9: Enter your Tweet and tap Tweet.
The next time you Tweet using the Twitter app on the same device, your general location will automatically be displayed with your Tweet, using your current location.
How to stop including your location in your Tweets
Step 1: Click the compose box and click the location icon.
Step 2: Select Remove location from the drop-down list.
Step 3: Your location setting has been saved. Next time when you compose a Tweet, your location information will not appear.
To stop adding your location in your Tweets on mobile, you just need to tap the location icon and tap the X icon next to your current location. Your location information will be removed from the Tweet. It won't appear in future Tweets also.
How to remove location data on Twitter (web only)
If you want to remove your location data from displaying in your previous Tweets, including Tweets posted from your mobile devices, you can either:
- Delete a particular Tweet that has the location data attached; or
- Remove location data from displaying in all of your Tweets.
Step 1: Log into your Twitter account.
Step 2: Go to the Privacy and safety page.
Step 3: In the Tweet location section, click Delete location information. This action can take up to 30 minutes to complete.
Note: Deleting location information on Twitter doesn't mean that the information will be removed from all copies of the data on third-party applications or in external search results.
