
How to delete Instagram account

This article shows you how to delete your Instagram account. Once you delete your account, everything associated with it including your photos, profile, followers, comments, etc. will be permanently removed. Your username can't be recycled also. If you just want to take a break, you can deactivate your Instagram account instead.

Note: You can only disable or delete your account on https://www.instagram.com from a computer or a mobile browser on your device (iPhone, Android, etc.). There is no option to do so from within the Instagram app.
Step 1: Go to the Delete Your Account page. If you're not logged into Instagram on the web, you will need to enter your username (email address or phone number), your password and click Log in.
Step 2: Click the box next to Why are you deleting your account? and select an option from the drop-down menu.
Step 3: Enter your password and click Permanently delete my account.
Step 4: Click OK to confirm your action.
Your Instagram account has been permanently deleted.
Can you reactivate a deleted Instagram account?
If you choose to delete your account, you won't be able to reactivate it. You can use the same email address you used before to create a new account. However, you can't use the same username as it can't be recycled.
If you just deactivated it temporarily, you can reactivate it at any time.
How to reactivate an Instagram account?
Simply open the Instagram app and enter your email (username, phone number) and password then tap Log in to log into your account again.
Depending on how long your account has been deactivated, you may need to accept the Terms of Use before you can get back to your account. Just follow the on-screen instructions.
