Spotify Premium users can download music so they can listen to their favorite songs or albums when they are not online. Here's how to download your favorite songs from Spotify to listen to without Wi-Fi if you have a Spotify Premium account and are about to take a long train ride or are going somewhere without Wi-Fi.

How to download songs from Spotify on iPhone and Android

1. Open the Spotify app on your iPhone and Android device.

2. Log in to your Spotify Premium account.

3. Tap on Your Library at the bottom right corner of the screen.

4. Choose the playlist you want to download.

5. Tap the Download button in the playlist so that the toggle turns green. This will download all of the songs in your playlist right away.

Spotify lets you download up to 10,000 songs per device and a total of five devices at most. This means that each of those devices can have 10,000 different downloads. You have to log in before you can listen to Spotify offline, but you can do so for up to 30 days. But if you don't use the Internet for more than 30 days, you'll lose access to the songs you've downloaded and have to get them all over again. If you use Spotify, you should go online at least once a month to avoid this. This lets the servers of the app check to see if your subscription plan is still active.

Downloads are tied to Premium: You need a Premium account to listen to the content you've downloaded on Spotify. So, if your subscription runs out and you don't renew it, the content you've downloaded will be taken away.

How to Delete Downloaded Songs on Spotify

If you're running out of space on your device, you can delete some of the Spotify songs you've downloaded. The only catch is that you can't delete individual songs, only whole albums or playlists.

Go to the playlist or album you want to get rid of, and then click the green arrow pointing down. When it's gray, it means that those song downloads have been taken away. This is a way to delete apps on both mobile and desktop devices.

If you're sure you want to get rid of all the songs you've downloaded, you can use the "Remove all downloads" option. This is how:

What Are the Best Settings for Spotify Music Downloads?

Spotify says that you need at least 1GB of space for the app to work well. This is where cache files of songs and podcasts are kept so that they can load faster on slow connections. Song downloads, on the other hand, will take up more space depending on how high the quality is set. Spotify Premium has five options for the quality of the music you stream or download. 

Automatic: depends on your network connection speed.

Low: 24 kbit/s

Normal: 96 kbit/s

High: 160 kbit/s

Very High: 320 kbit/s

When you download songs, the most important thing to remember is that the better the quality, the more storage space it will take up.

Since the average length of a song is about 3:28, or 197 seconds, a Very High song download would take up 7.88 MB of space. On the other hand, the Low setting uses about 0.18 MB per minute, which means that a song would only take up 0.59 MB of space.

Also, if your device doesn't have much free space, it's best to download songs in Low or Normal quality. But if you don't want to listen to songs with lower quality, you might as well just stream.

On the other hand, you can download songs in High or Very High quality if you have a slow Internet connection and enough space.
