How to remove background from image in Microsoft Word?

Do you know that Microsoft Word offers a great feature that allows us to remove the background from a picture so simply?
In this article, Geeks Nation will show you quick steps to remove an image's background in Microsoft Word without using any other graphic editing tools or software. Instructions described below work for Word for Office365, Word for Mac, Word 2010, Word 2016, Word 2019, and Word 2013.
Now, it’s time to learn how to remove an image’s background with Microsoft Word.
How to remove background from image in Microsoft Word?
After inserting an image into Word, here is how to eliminate the background image.
Step 01
Click on the image you want to delete the background from.
Step 02
On the toolbar, go to the Picture Format tab and click on the Remove Background button - the button is on the far-left side. (With Word 2016 and older versions, go to the Format tab and then choose Remove Background.)
QUICK NOTE: The Format tab or Picture Format tab is available on the toolbar only when one image is selected. If you do not see the tab, it is likely that no picture is clicked on or multiple images are selected at the same time.
Step 03
Determine whether the magenta-colored area is the one you want to delete.
To eliminate the magenta highlight from an area that you want to keep, you select the Mark Areas to Keep option. After that, select the sections of the area in magenta that you don’t want to remove. In Word for Mac, choose What to keep.
Also, to select areas of the image that you want to delete, choose the Mark Areas to Remove option. Then, select the sections of the pic that you’d like to eliminate. In Word for Mac, choose What to Remove.
QUICK NOTE: Word colors the image’s background in magenta color, and everything colored in that tone will get deleted from the image.
Step 04
When all the areas of the image that you want to remove are all in magenta color, click on the “Keep Changes” button. After that, the modified picture will appear right away on the document canvas.
Step 05
If you find the final image unsatisfied, simply go to the Picture Format tab on the toolbar, select Remove Background (on the far-left side) again, then continue the steps of removing or keeping parts of the pic.
That’s everything you need to do to remove the background from an image with Microsoft Word. So simple and easy, right?
Well, it’s worth noting that not every image has backgrounds that are easy to remove. If there are a lot of complicated colors and shapes, it’ll take more than one attempt to select which parts of the pic to keep and which ones to get rid of.
Further information
Greatly, we can also change the colors, and add artistic effects & reflections to the edited image.
One more thing is that along with the “Remove Background” feature in Microsoft Word, you can use the Windows Paint 3D app to do the very same thing (if the image you want to remove its background from is not in an Office file).
Bottom line
As you can see, removing background from an image using the Remove Background feature in Microsoft Word is incredibly simple and easy, isn’t it? Though you may find this method for removing an image's background not so excellent, undoubtably, it’s so helpful, allowing us to get rid of the unwanted background without using sophisticated editing tools or software, right?
