How to Sign up for a Facebook Account

Facebook is one of the most popular social networking services in the world. Setting up for a Facebook account is fairly simple. This article shows you how to create a Facebook account within seconds.

How to sign up for a Facebook account

On Desktop

Step 1: Go to https://www.facebook.com.

Step 2: Enter your information into the registration form including:

1. Your first and surname - As Facebook is a place based on real identity, you must use your real name or the name you go by in everyday life.
2. Your mobile number or email address - It must be valid. You can only create one account per email address. You need to enter your email address twice.
3. Your password - For security reason, please use a combination of letters and numbers.
4. Your birthday - You will need to be at least 13 years old to set up a Facebook account. If you don't want to share your birthday, you can hide this information on your Timeline later. To set your birthday, click on the arrows. Then, select the right date from a drop-down list that appears.
5. Your gender.

Step 3: Click Sign Up.

Step 4: Facebook will send a verification code to the email address or mobile number you provided.

Step 5: 

If you use an email address to create your Facebook account, click Connect to "Your email service" and log into your account.

Facebook will automatically verify your account after you logged in.

Click OK.

If you create a Facebook account using a mobile number, Facebook will send you a message containing a confirmation code. Check your mobile, enter the code into the box in the middle of the page, and click Continue.

Your Facebook account has been created successfully!

On Android

Make sure you've installed the Facebook app on your device.

Step 1: Open the Facebook app.

Step 2: Tap Create New Facebook Account.

Step 3: Tap Next.

Step 4: Tap Deny or Allow to decide if you want to allow Facebook "contacts" and "phone" permissions.

Step 5: Type your first and last name and tap Next.

Step 6: Slide to set your birthday then tap Next.

Step 7: Select your gender and tap Next.

Step 8: Type your phone number and tap Next or tap Sign Up With Email Address then enter your email address if you want to use an email address instead.

Step 9: Enter your password then tap Next.

Step 10: Tap Sign Up.

Step 11: To finish creating your account, you will need to confirm your email address or phone number. A text message (SMS) or an email with the confirmation code to your phone number or email address respectively. You will need to enter the code into the Confirm box that appears when you log in.

On iOS

Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your iOS device.

Step 2: Tap Sign Up for Facebook.

Step 3: Tap Get Started.

Step 4: Enter your mobile number and tap Continue or tap Use your email address, type your email address then tap Continue if you want to register an account using your email.

Step 5: Type your first and last name then tap Continue.

Step 6: Enter your password and tap Continue. It's recommended to use a combination of at least six numbers, letters, and punctuation marks.

Step 7: Set your birthday by tapping on the down arrow icon then spinning the wheel.

Step 8: Tap Continue.

Step 9: Select your gender.

Step 10: You will need to confirm your phone number or email address to finish your registration.

To confirm your email: Open the email sent by Facebook and tap the Confirm Your Account link.

To confirm your mobile: Facebook will send a text message to your phone number. You just need to enter it into the Confirm box when you log in.
