How to Teleport in Minecraft

The worlds in Minecraft are very big. Even in the most basic version of the games, a new world is about 30 million blocks long in each of the four cardinal directions. This doesn't include the Nether or the End. This means that even if you're fast, it can take a long time to get from one place to another. There are shortcuts, though. You can use command codes in both the Java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft to teleport almost anywhere and also to teleport someone to you. If you want to get across the Minecraft map quickly, you can teleport and get to wherever you want in the blink of an eye. Here's how to teleport in Minecraft.
How to teleport in Minecraft on PC
1. You need to turn on cheats in your Minecraft world before you can teleport.
2. Once cheats are turned on, you can open the chat menu by pressing T on your keyboard or the right D-pad button on your controller.
3. Then type /tp.
You can do a few different things at this point. XYZ coordinates are the best and easiest way to move around with teleportation.
Every place in Minecraft has its own set of X, Y, and Z coordinates. Press F3 on your keyboard (or Fn + F3 if you're on a laptop) to find them in the Java edition. In Bedrock, pause the game and click Settings. Then, in the Game Settings menu, turn on Show Coordinates.
If you know the coordinates of the place you want to go, you can teleport there. To do it, type /tp X Y Z as your command.
So, if you want to go to coordinates 70, 70, 70, you would type: /tp 70, 70, 70.
Use the tilde key (~) if you don't know exactly where you want to go but know which way you want to go. If you type /tp 70 70 70, you will be teleported 70 blocks east, 70 blocks up in the air, and 70 blocks south of where you are now. Add a minus sign before the number to go in the opposite direction (west, down, north).
You can also teleport other people. Just type their username before the coordinates. For example, to teleport a player named JohnDoe, you would type: /tp JohnDoe 70 70 70.
And if you just want to go to JohnDoe (or any other player), you can just type: /tp JohnDoe.
But be careful, because if you aren't careful you could teleport into solid ground. If you do this, your character will start taking a lot of damage and die in a few seconds. You can avoid this by adding the word true to the end of your cheat. This will make the game check if there are any blocks where you want to teleport to and cancel the teleport if it finds any.
Here are a few other quick ways to teleport:
/tp @a @s: Moves every player to where you are. Put some coordinates in place of @s to send them there instead.
/tp @e[type=EnemyName] @s: Brings all nearby enemies of a certain type to you. Replace EnemyName with the name of any mob you want.
/tp ~ 62 ~: This keeps your cardinal directions the same but moves you to sea level. This trick works for all coordinates; just put a tilde in place of any coordinate if you want to stay on the same coordinate while changing the others.
How to teleport in Minecraft on a Console
Before we get into the Minecraft teleportation tutorial for consoles, it's important to note that you can only teleport when you're hosting a multiplayer world, and unlike on PC, you can only teleport to another player's location.
Now that that's out of the way, here's how to teleport in Minecraft on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch.
1. Start Minecraft from the main menu of your console.
2. Choose "Play Game," then choose the world you want to load, but don't do it yet.
3. Make sure that Host Privileges is checked in Game Options.
4. Select Load and click OK on the warning that tells players that achievements and leaderboards won't be updated when they play as the host.
5. Once the game has loaded, you can go to the Host menu by pressing Options on Xbox or the Touchpad on PlayStation.
6. Choose Host Options, then choose "Teleport to Player."
7. This should take you to a list of every player in your world who is currently playing. Just pick a user from this list, and you'll be transported to where they are right now.
How to teleport in Minecraft on Mobile
Even though there isn't a physical keyboard, you can still teleport in Minecraft on mobile.
1. Open the app for Minecraft and load the world you want to play in.
2. Tap the top-right corner of the screen to get to the pause menu. The icon doesn't always show up, but it's there.
3. To use teleportation, tap Settings and turn on the Cheats switch.
4. Close the menu and tap Resume Game.
5. Tap the Chat icon at the top of the screen.
6. Hit the text box and type /tp YourUsername ~ ~ ~, making sure to replace YourUsername with your Minecraft username. This will give you a record of where you are. This won't move you anywhere, but the command menu should show you where you are now.
7. To teleport, tap the Chat icon again, bring up the text box, and type /tp YourUsername X Y Z, where X is the east/west coordinate, Y is the vertical coordinate, and Z is the north/south coordinate.
8. Tap the Enter button, which looks like a chat bubble with an arrow in it, to send your character to the coordinates you chose.
How to teleport someone to you in Minecraft
1. Double-click the Minecraft app on your computer.
2. Click on the world or stage you want to play in. If you want, you can make a new world.
3. Click the Play-selected world icon.
4. Identify your location, because that's where you'll send the other player. Press F3 to see where you are right now.
5. By now, you should know all of the coordinates. Click the slash (/) button on your keyboard. This will bring up the console.
6. Type the commands "teleport (the name of the player) X Y Z" in the console section. Remember that the case of a player's username is important.
7. Press the Enter key, and the other player will appear right where you are.
How to teleport to The Nether and The End
Most of your time in Minecraft will be spent in the Overworld, which is where the game starts. Most of the time, you need special items to get to The Nether and The End, the game's other two worlds.
But in Minecraft: Java Edition, you can go from one world to another in a matter of seconds. To do this, you'll need to use the "/execute" command along with the "teleport" cheat.
To teleport to another dimension, open the chat box and type: /execute in DimensionName run tp PlayerName ~ ~ ~.
252 102 151
Replace DimensionName with the name of the world you want to go to (Overworld, The Nether, or The End), PlayerName with the name of the player you want to warp to (or leave it blank if you want to warp yourself), and the tildes with coordinates.
Be careful when choosing coordinates. The Nether and The End have very different layouts from the Overworld, so it's easy to teleport yourself right into lava, a mountain, or a bottomless pit. And the "true" command doesn't work when switching dimensions, which is a shame.
The best plan is to move between dimensions in a normal way first, then write down some safe coordinates that you can use later.
