How to create a new Twitter account?

Twitter is one of the most popular online social networking services in the world. Unlike other social networks, Twitter helps you focus on what you care about and track the trend with the list of most used “hashtags” or “follow” celebrities. This article shows you how to create a new Twitter account on both Desktop and mobile devices.

How to create a Twitter account on Desktop

Step 1: Go to https://twitter.com/.

Step 2: Click Sign Up.

Step 3: Enter your full name into the Name box.

Step 4: Enter your phone number into the Phone box.

If you want to use your email to create a Twitter account, click Use email instead and enter your email address into the Email box.

Step 5: Click Next. It's in the top right corner of the page.

Sep 6: Enter your password. Please make sure it's 6 characters or more. 

Step 7: Click Next.

Step 8: Your account has been created but it is locked until you verify it. Click Start.

Step 9: Complete the captcha and click Continue.

Step 10: Enter the phone number that you would like to associate with your Twitter account into the Your phone number box.

Step 11: Click Send code.

Step 12: Twitter will send you a message containing a six-digit verification code. Check your mobile for the code and enter it into the Your code box. 

Step 13: Click Submit.

Step 14: Your account is unlocked! Click Continue to Twitter.

Step 15: Enter your password again and click Next.

Step 16: Pick your favorite interests and click Next or click Skip for now to decide later.

Step 17: Select the checkbox to the far right of the person you want to follow and click Follow or just click Skip for now.

Step 18: Select Allow notifications if you want to get notified when new messages come into your account or Skip for now.

Step 19: Click Got it.

Step 20: (Optional) If you use your email address to register a new Twitter account, a confirmation message will be sent to your email address. You will need to log into your email account and open the message sent by Twitter. Click Confirm now to confirm your account.

You're all done.

How to create a Twitter account on Mobile

Make sure you have installed the Twitter app on your mobile device. 

Step 1: Open the Twitter App on your phone.

Step 2: Tap Get started.

Step 3: Enter your full name into the Name box.

Step 4: Enter your phone number or email address into the box below and tap Next.

Step 5: Tap Sign up.

Step 6: You will need to verify your phone. Tap OK. 

Step 7: You will receive a message with a verification code shortly after. Enter it into the Verification code box and tap Next.

Step 8: Enter your password. Make sure it’s strong enough for better protection. Tap Next.

Step 9: Tap either Sync contacts if you want to connect your address book to find people you may know on Twitter or Not now to decide later.

Step 10: Select your interests and tap Next or just Skip for now to add later.

Step 11: Select people you want to follow and tap Follow or tap Skip for now.

Step 12: Tap OK if you want to allow Twitter to collect, store, and use your device's location to improve your experience. Tap Not Now to decide later.

Step 13: Tap Get started to set up your profile.
